Corporate Event Entertainment in San Jose & Silicon Valley: Why Dueling Pianos Win the Room
Silicon Valley companies throw a lot of parties: team offsites, client appreciation nights, product launch celebrations, sales kickoffs and year-end events. Most of them end up looking the same, with a playlist in the background, a few people talking shop near the bar and half the room checking their phones. If you're planning a company event in San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto or anywhere around the South Bay, live entertainment is the easiest way to make yours the one people actually remember. Getting a San Jose crowd on its feet is something our founder, the former San Jose Sharks organist, knows a thing or two about.
A San Jose crowd is our home crowd
JMD Entertainment is run by James Michael Day, the former San Jose Sharks organist. He played 500+ Sharks NHL games plus the NHL All-Star Game, which is a crash course in reading a big San Jose crowd and knowing exactly when to bring the energy up. He's also played hundreds of shows at San Francisco's famous Lefty O'Doul's piano bar and corporate events from Atlantis Reno to Meta, Google and Levi's Stadium, plus multiple casinos. Our performers have also played for clients including PayPal, Intuit, Topgolf and NASCAR. When you book through JMD, James handles your event personally.
Dueling pianos: built for mixed company crowds
Tech teams are full of people who don't usually mix: engineers, sales, leadership, new hires and partners from other offices. A dueling pianos show solves that. Two pianist-singers take requests from the audience all night, so the music comes from your guests instead of a playlist. One table asks for Journey, the next asks for Taylor Swift, someone slips in a request to roast their manager, and before long the whole room is singing the same chorus.
It also fits the way corporate events actually run. The show can stay conversational during dinner or networking, build through the night, and pause cleanly for a toast, an awards segment or a raffle. Keeping it clean and inclusive is the default for company events, and we'll work in your team names, milestones and inside jokes if you send them ahead of time.
Solo piano and vocals for receptions and client dinners
Not every event needs a full show. For an executive dinner, a reception in a hotel lobby, a winery client night or a cocktail hour before the main program, one singing pianist sets a polished mood without taking over the room. James brings 2,000+ songs, so he can play quiet standards while people talk, then turn it into a sing-along once the drinks kick in. Many companies book solo piano for the reception and dueling pianos for the main event.
Live bands for the big dance-floor night
For larger galas and year-end parties where you want a packed dance floor, JMD also represents two bands. The Penetrators Groove Band, from the Stockton and Modesto area, won Best Jazz & Blues at the 2025 Modesto Area Music Awards and brings up to seven pieces, including Hammond B3, sax and powerhouse vocals, playing R&B, soul, funk and classic rock. Whiskey Kiss, from the Lodi area, plays the country and classic rock hits everybody knows. Both are based in the Central Valley, so ask us about travel to the South Bay for your date.
Sound, lighting and the details your venue will ask about
South Bay events land in all kinds of spaces: hotel ballrooms, office atriums, rooftop terraces, private dining rooms and outdoor patios. JMD can bring the pianos, sound, lighting and staging along with the talent, so you aren't coordinating a separate AV vendor. Send us the room, the guest count and your run-of-show, and we'll plan the footprint, power and load-in with your venue ahead of time.
