Event Entertainment in the East Bay & Tri-Valley: Dueling Pianos, Solo Piano and Live Bands

A pianist performing live in a lounge setting

The East Bay hosts a huge range of events in a small area. A tech team rents out a restaurant in Oakland for the holidays. A company in Pleasanton or San Ramon throws its year-end party at a hotel ballroom. A couple gets married at a Livermore Valley winery, and a family in Danville or Lafayette celebrates a milestone birthday in the backyard. Each one needs live music that fits the room and gets people involved. Here's how we'd plan entertainment for events across the East Bay and the Tri-Valley.

Why live piano works for East Bay crowds

East Bay guest lists are mixed. One office party might bring together engineers, sales teams and spouses who have never met, and a wedding pulls in three generations. A live pianist handles that by reading the room: easy standards while people arrive, a request for the retiring manager, then a full sing-along once dinner is done. Our performers have played for corporate teams at Meta and Google and for Crunchyroll in San Francisco, so a room full of colleagues who don't all know each other is familiar ground.

Picking the right act for your event

  • Company and holiday parties: dueling pianos. Two pianist-singers take requests all night and turn the crowd into the show: shout-outs for the team that hit its numbers, birthday songs, a song for the boss. It works in a restaurant buyout, a hotel ballroom or an office atrium, and it gets people talking across departments.
  • Winery weddings and receptions: solo piano, then dueling pianos. Livermore Valley wineries and East Bay hills venues often want quieter music for the ceremony and cocktail hour. A singing pianist covers those, and dueling pianos can take over for the reception if you want a party.
  • Client dinners and smaller gatherings: solo piano. For a restaurant private room, a client appreciation night or a dinner at home, a singing pianist adds atmosphere without drowning out conversation, and takes requests as the night loosens up.
  • Big celebrations and dance floors: a live band. JMD represents Whiskey Kiss and The Penetrators Groove Band for crowds that want country, classic rock, R&B and dance music until the end of the night.

Planning tips for East Bay venues

  • Ask about load-in and parking. Downtown Oakland, Berkeley and Walnut Creek venues can have tight loading zones and paid garages. Send us the venue's loading details and we'll plan arrival around them.
  • Check the venue's sound rules. Many wineries and hillside venues have firm end times and volume limits, and some restaurants share walls with neighbors. We build the set so the night peaks before the music has to stop.
  • Plan around commute traffic. Interstate 680, Interstate 580 and the Caldecott Tunnel back up on weekday evenings, so for a weeknight company party we build in extra time for setup.
  • Book December early. Holiday party dates in the East Bay go fast, especially Thursdays and Fridays in early and mid-December. Our holiday party entertainment guide covers how to choose between dueling pianos, karaoke, a DJ or a band.

How to book

  1. Tell us the basics. The date, the town or venue, the guest count and the kind of event. A budget range helps us recommend the right act.
  2. We recommend a lineup. Solo piano, dueling pianos, a band or a mix, with notes on space, power and timing for your venue.
  3. We handle the details. Contracts, production and day-of coordination stay with us, so you can enjoy your own event.
